Title:Aircraft Lightning Test Methods

Scope: This document describes how to conduct lightning direct effects tests and indirect system upset effects tests. Revision A to the document will incorporate changes to existing test methods based upon industry experience in applying these test methods as well as provide new guidance for how to conduct fuel tank lightning tests in support of fault tolerant assessments required now by FAR 25.981 and FAA fuel tank structural lightning policy. Planned test method revisions include criteria for use of digital photography and improvements in flammable gas methods for ignition source detection, guidance on how to configure and bound integrated system upset tests and updates related to the high voltage test methods.
