【摘要】:Coatingonsubstratescanbedamagedbyabrasionduringmanufacturingandservice.Thistestmethodhasbeenusefulinevaluatingtheabrasionresistanceofattachedcoatings.RatingsproducedbythistestmethodhavecorrelatedwellwithratingsproducedbythefallingabrasivevaluesinTestMethodsD968.Forsomematerials,abrasiontestsutilizingtheTaberabrasermaybesubjecttovariationduetochangesintheabrasivecharacteristicsofthewheelduringtesting.Dependingonabradanttypeandtestspecimen,thewheelsurfacemaychange(thatis,becomeclogged)duetothepick-upofcoatingorothermaterialsfromtestspecimensandmustberefacedatmorefrequentintervalsasagreeduponbytheinterestedparties.Todetermineifmorefrequentrefacingisrequired,plotthetotalweightlossevery50cycles.Ifasignificantnegativechangeinslopeisobservedpriorto500cycles,thepointatwhichtheslopechangesdeterminestherefacingfrequency.1.1ThistestmethodcoversthedeterminationoftheresistanceoforganiccoatingstoabrasionproducedbytheTaberAbraseroncoatingsappliedtoaplane,rigidsurface,suchasametalpanel.1.2Becauseofthepoorreproducibilityofthistestmethod,itshouldberestrictedtotestinginonlyonelaboratorywhennumericalabrasionresistancevaluesaretobeused.Interlaboratoryagreementisimprovedsignificantlywhenrankingsofcoatingsareusedinplaceofnumericalvalues.1.3ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard,withtheexceptionofmilswhendeterminingcoatingthickness.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.1.4Thisstandardissimilarincontent(butnottechnicallyequivalent)toISO7784-2.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
