【摘要】:Theproceduresoutlinedherearegroundedinthegenerallyacceptedbodyofknowledgeandexperienceinthefieldofforensicdocumentexamination.Byfollowingtheseprocedures,aforensicdocumentexaminercanreliablyevaluatethephysicalsimilaritiesordifferencesbetweenpapersthatcanleadtoadeterminationastowhetherpapersoriginatedfromthesamesource.1.1Thisguideprovidesproceduresthatshouldbeusedbyforensicdocumentexaminers(seeGuideE444)fornon-destructiveexaminationsofpaper.1.2Theseproceduresareapplicablewhethertheexaminationisofquestionedandknownitemsorofexclusivelyquestioneditems.1.3Theseproceduresincludeevaluationofthesufficiencyofthematerialavailableforexamination.1.4Theparticularmethodsemployedinagivencasewilldependuponthenatureofthematerialavailableforexamination.1.5Thisguidemaynotcoverallaspectsofparticularlyunusualoruncommonexaminationsofpapersamples.1.6Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
