【摘要】:1ThisPartofBS7258specifiesminimumsafetyrequirementsforgeneralpurposelaboratoryfumecupboardsanddescribesthemethodsoftesttobeusedtodeterminetheirperformance.2ThisPartofBS7258isnotintendedtocoverfumecupboardsforsuchspecialapplicationsascarryingoutworkonradioactivematerials,perchloricacid,etc.orforworkwherelargequantitiesofheatarereleased.NOTE1.Largequantitiesofheatcreateconvectioncurrentsthatadverselyaffectperformance.ThisPartofBS7258isapplicabletofumecupboardsforsomespecialapplicationsbutsuchfumecupboardswillalsohavetocomplywithadditionalrequirements,appropriatetospecifichazardsoftheparticularapplication,whicharenotcoveredinthisspecification.NOTE2.Attentionisdrawntotheprovisionsofthefollowingregulations.a)TheControlofSubstancesHazardoustoHealthRegulations1988(StatutoryInstrumentNo.1657)[2]andassociatedApprovedCodesofPractice.FumecupboardsshouldberegardedaslocalexhaustventilationequipmentforthepurposesoftheseRegulations.b)TheIonizingRadiationsRegulations1985(StatutoryInstrumentNo.1333)[3]madeundertheHealthandSafetyatWorketc.Act1974andanyothersubsequentregulationsmadeunderthatAct.c)HighlyFlammableLiquidsandLiquefiedPetroleumGasesRegulations1972(StatutoryInstrumentNo.917)[4](whichweremadeundertheFactoriesAct1961)andinparticularRegulation10(2).Evenwhentheregulationsdonotapplytoparticularpremises,thestandardstheydescribeshouldbeusedasaguide.d)TheElectricityatWorkRegulations1989[5].Theseregulationsmaynotapplytoallpremisesbutthestandardsdescribedwillbeausefulguide.3ThisPartofBS7258isnotapplicabletomicrobiologicalsafetycabinets(seeBS5726).4ThisPartofBS7258isnotapplicabletospeciallydesignedfumecupboardsofthefollowingkinds:a)'walkin'fumecupboards;b)recirculatingfumecupboards;c)mobilefumecupboardsnotinstalledoroperatedinamannercomplyingwith3.2and3.4ofBS7258:Part2:1994;d)fumecupboardsfordemonstratingexperiments;e)fumecupboardsforthestorageofchemicals;f)industrialandcontinuousproductionprocessenclosures;g)fumecupboardswithopeningsonmorethanoneside;h)fumecupboardswithadirectmake-upairsupply.NOTE.DesigncriteriaforlaboratoryfumecupboardsaregiveninannexA.
